Anti-Christian in Nanaimo

City councillors in Nanaimo, BC voted 8-1 to ban a Christian conference in their city because one of the sponsors of the conference was Chick-fil-A owner Dan Cathy.
Councilor Jim Kipp said that banning the event was no worse than banning an organized crime ring, saying the Christian view of marriage should “almost be a criminal point of view in this day and age.”

Our most out-spoken freedom-fighter Ezra Levant plans to launch a law suit against Nanaimo for its violation of constitutional rights, i.e. not giving Christians their place to express their views.

“We need to make sure these anti-Christian politicians learn their lesson,” he wrote on his website promoting the lawsuit. “We need to show them how wrong they were. We need to take them to court, to teach them, first-hand, that the Charter of Rights guarantees religious equality to everyone – including Christians. That’s why we’ve got to sue them, and not let them off the hook.”

Thank God for Ezra Levant. While he is not a Christian and, as far as I know, he does not espouse any views based on any religion, he is prepared to fight for anyone who is violated by those who push their progressive views on others.

Sudan to release Meriam Ibrahim

Very good news.

State news agency SUNA said the Court of Cassation canceled the death sentence against 27-year-old Meriam Ibrahim after defense lawyers presented their case. Her lawyer, Eman Abdul-Rahim, told The Associated Press that Ibrahim has left prison and is with her husband and two small children, who had been with her in jail. - See more at:

Justin doesn't know what his father said

“You know, at some point you are killing life in the foetus in self-defence – of what? Of the mother’s health or her happiness or of her social rights or her privilege as a human being? I think she should have to answer for it and explain. Now, whether it should be to three doctors or one doctor or to a priest or a bishop or to her mother-in-law is a question you might want to argue …. You do have a right over your own body – it is your body. But the foetus is not your body; it’s someone else’s body.  And if you kill it, you’ll have to explain.” (Pierre E. Trudeau quoted in The Montreal Star, May 25, 1972)

Pro Life in Kansas

My daughter sent me a photo of this billboard in Kansas. She and her husband stopped when they saw the board to take a photo and the police stopped to see why they had stopped. They replied, "we have to send this photo to Rebecca's mom, she is doing this in Canada too".

Here is a clearer image of the sign, it is put out by American Life League. The funny thing is that I woke up this morning, thinking about a t-shirt I bought some years ago that has this very image on it. Perhaps we should be running this billboard in Nova Scotia.

Some folks will say that it is too "in your face", but it is really only a simple statement of fact. As for judging anyone, the person who feels judged by this is in fact judging themselves. Which is the point of the signs in the first place. Raising awareness, even if it is painful.

Come on Feminists

Everyone should know this picture by now. It is the wedding photo of Meriam Ibrahim, a Muslim woman who married a Christian man. For that, her sentence is jail along with her son. And she gave birth to a baby daughter last week, in jail, while shackled to her bed. Her 20 month old son is with her in the cell.

Once the baby is weaned, the Sudanese government said that Meriam will be given 100 lashes and then hanged, for apostasy. This is the punishment for adultery and abandoning the Muslim faith.

Here is a picture of Meriam with her new born daughter, born last week, in the jail cell.

There are efforts around the world to get Meriam freed. Her husband is a US citizen, and as his wife, she should be released to the US along with her children.

President Obama has said nothing on this issue, although he has been asked to intervene. I guess he is too busy welcoming home the soldier who defected from the troops in Afghanistan five years ago and has been held hostage by the Taliban since then. Over the past weekend, Obama traded him for the top five Taliban prisoners held in Guantanomo prison.

It seems that a woman in jail with her two children just isn't as important.

Where are the feminists on this issue? When it comes to the rights of women in the Muslim world, we never hear from them. They only defend freedom when it can be done in the safe environment of the Judaeo-Christian world.

Funding Abortion in Canada

“We’re trying to rally a broad public consensus behind what we’re doing, and you can’t rally a consensus on that issue, as you know well in this country,” he said.
This was Stephen Harper explaining why he will not include funding for abortion in Canada's maternal health care abroad.

So Natalie Sonnen ( raises the question:
So then why on earth are we funding abortion at home, here in Canada?
