Linda Gibbons Alone Again

Linda Gibbons was arrested yesterday, once again, as she protested silently outside the Morgentaler clinic on Hillsdale Avenue in Toronto.

20 Show the Truth supporters stood outside the restricted "bubble zone" in support of Linda.

Linda was arrested alone, by six police officers.

If those 20, better yet if 100, people had stood with Linda inside the bubble zone, perhaps something would really happen. I know, I know, most of us are not free to give up our time to go to jail as Linda does. And I know that I personally don't have the chutzpah to join her in her actions which result in incarceration.

But as she said in an interview :

“When we begin to suffer for the unborn, our identification with them, that’s when we’re going to impact society, when they see that,” she added. “The Church is not hurting enough for the unborn. When we start feeling their hurt in a real concrete way, then things are going to change, because then we’re saying very clearly that this cannot go on.”

I predict that Linda will simply go back to jail and she will be on the back burner once again. Yes, there is a trial date coming up in the fall and something might happen at that, but is it likely?
Major change does not come in a society until many people join the cause and risk the consequences to themselves. The civil rights movement did not win in the US until people were willing to face police and attack dogs to express their rights as human beings. The same applies to the unborn: until lots of us are prepared to suffer for them, they will be ignored.
