Violence Against Pro-Lifers
Following the recent murder of George Tiller, there were many public outcries about the atmosphere of violence incited by pro-life activists. People such as Troy Newman of Operation Rescue, Jill Stanek a well-known blogger, and Father Frank Pavone, director of Priests for Life have all received threats since Tiller's murder. Bill O'Reilly of Fox News has been accused of causing Tiller's death by his reporting through the years on the abortion business of "Tiller, the Killer" as he called him.
Even though almost every pro-life group issued a statement condemning the murder of George Tiller, pro-choice activists still point the finger and say that we are responsible for the murder of Tiller, which was committed by a nutcase. His action was not a pro-life action, but the action of a deranged individual as so many murders are.
The pro-life movement espouses non-violence. As Ann Coulter recently stated "the pro-life movement is demonstrably peaceful." On the other hand, the pro-choice side is not so peaceful. I have always noticed that, when we gather for a pro-life demonstration or rally or prayer vigil, it is the other side that has the foul language, it is the pro-choicers who shout at us and who spit on the signs. And always there is one who cycles past yelling the worst obscenity, assured of his quick getaway on bike, never being brave enough to speak to anyone face to face. Always the anonymous shouting of some foul-mouthed statement that has the logic of a two-year-old.
So, where is the violence? definitely not on the pro-life side, which is the largest and longest movement for social justice with a history of non-violence.
